There seems to be a lot of confusion in the Web community about what is Web 1.0 (old school) and what is Web 2.0 (new school) application design. Here is my solution. Since application development is iterative and the Web certainly didn’t change overnight, I say it is OK to refer to sites, applications, and concepts using subversions. For example:
Blogging = 1.5
RSS and Trackbacks = 1.7
Comment Spam = 1.8
Podcasts = 2.0
We could even assign composite scores to web sites based on established criteria. I hope this clears up any confusion.
