[...] OK, I’m no dog expert, but I’m thinking ten pounds of kibble isn’t going to last long. Plus, I bet you could mix a little water in with the dry food and use less of the more expensive wet food. My question: is there a quantity price break for twenty or thirty pounds of kibble? Perhaps this message was for Smokey? [...]

My maternal grandfather, Vincent Cavanaugh, was a dentist in Oklahoma City. He died in the 80's, when I was 13 or so. He was my favorite grandparent when I was a kid, and I was pretty close to him.

When I was about 3, he gave me a "Smokey the bear" firefighter helmet toy. I named him Smokey, and the name stuck, became his identity. Everyone in his family, his daughter included, called him Smokey and still does.

Could my grandpa Smokey, the dentist, have been reincarnated as a dog, the message for which was mistakenly left on your voice mail just to let me know he's still out there somewhere?
